Devotional: Letting Go

Letting go is always tied to something more profound- that's why it's so hard. It's not just cutting ties to one person or one habit. It's erasing what it meant and why you kept it around. It's digging into deep patterns. Letting go takes deep work within us. It takes honesty and truth to force change.

If we're honest, comfort sounds better than truth most of the time. I challenge you to face the harsh realities and move forward. Let go of some of those old patterns and people who no longer serve you- whether you're ready to or not. There are specific dimensions that you will not get to while you're still holding on. I challenge you to move forward. Do what is best for you. Make adjustments as you continue to live and learn, but don't waste another second on yester-year. We often think that life is just about addition to our lives in moving forward or as we grow. But God's blessing is in subtraction as well.

Today, let's meditate on letting go and moving forward.

Affirmations to ponder:

I am not a failure.

I am not my mistake.

I will exceed any generational level that my family has ever known.

My gifts will be a blessing to others.

I can change.

If you're holding onto things just to feel satisfied, then it's hard to apprehend what God has for you. Letting go may leave you empty, alone, and scared for a while but do it anyway. God will fill you up! He always listens to you- but he won't give you something you aren't prepared for and that you didn't prepare for.

Be aggressive with your change, your purpose, and your blessings. Don't let anything, anyone, or your own self hold you back. There is something only you can do. It is needed on the earth. Let go and make room for the blessings waiting to pour out over you.

Your future needs you. Your past doesn't.
