Seed of Discovery
We have now identified who we are in Christ. Our identity in Him is now a part of our foundation. The question now becomes, what do we do when we discover that our calling is more significant than we've envisioned?
This is the seed of discovery.
Discovery is all about action. The seed of discovery visually is when you're seeing little sproutings come up from your seed of identity - they go hand in hand.
I remember one of my first discoveries of my gift of writing. People often told me how my gift was an encouragement to them; this happened before I could even see my own impact. I wrote poems, encouragement notes, obituaries, letters, and so forth. I didn't always dare to express myself vocally, but I was fearless when I would write. I would write until I was empty, and the more I wrote, believing it was all I had in the tank, the more God would fill me up again. Also, the more I wrote, the more I discovered about myself. I used to identify as "sensitive" because I felt everything deeper. But as I journaled and poured myself out, I found it is okay to be in tune with how I think, and it is okay to accept my gift. It is now one of the qualities that I've grown to love and accept about myself. That I feel deeply- moved quickly by compassion and love, and because of that, I have a gift. And I don't apologize for it.
Identity and discovery mirror one another in the sense that they both build you up to inherit God's best for you. His best for you is walking firmly in the gifts and talents He has given you. His best for you is joy. His best for you is addition and multiplication in your life. His best for you is his love and freedom for your life.
What are you doing with the thing that your heart cannot let go of? There's a fire in your belly about something, but you're afraid to go deeper in the waters. That thing. When you planted the seed of identity and accepted its growth in your life, you also accept who He called you to be and what he called you to do with it. These both sprout together. You can't identify as his child and choose not to discover why he placed you on this earth. The seed of identity is the start but not the end. And if you decide to stop sowing at the identity seed, you miss out on God's vision and promises for your life.
Discovery stands on the principle that we can have what God says we can have and go after it. Discovery is standing firmly on the truth that we are good enough for his miracles, blessings, and promises.
Some of His promises are:
Proverbs 8:35 " For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord."
2 Peter 1:3 " His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."
Psalms 121:3 " He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber."
Psalm 121:5 " The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade."
Don't you want these promises to be fulfilled in your life? Your family lives? Your children and their children's children's lives? I want it for you, sis. I want it for myself and everyone connected to me.
Now, what are you doing with the confirmation of His promises to you? James 1:22 says, " Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says ."What are you doing with this fire inside you- waiting to overflow? When you identify who you are in him and accept his power, you receive the blessings and the work that comes with it, and you discover who you can be if you keep planting. You go after your purpose, you hone your gifts, you flourish, and you be a blessing to others. When you discover who you are genuinely and you're aligned, and the work of your hands is diligent, you are a personification of God's goodness and mercy. You're an example of His glory- that his power is still alive today.
Do not be afraid. Step into your gift, protect what you are the steward of, be active in your pursuit of a garden full of purpose.
When an eaglet discovers it is an eagle, it begins to fly. Your day of discovery is today… will you fly?
I fly with you. I believe in you. Shine Bright Queen.
