Harvest of Identity and Discovery
"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
Harvest comes based on the seeds we plant. It can be a plentiful harvest full of blessings, perseverance, grit, and favor. Or it can be full of doubt, fear, anger, and malice. If we don't do the work to re-plant the seeds of our identity, then the latter will be our story. But when you do the work, the work it takes to be whole, to be fun, to be a light, your garden will flourish. And this is what life is about. It's about flourishing and growing.
God is a dependable God. He said to ask, and you shall receive. Ask Him to welcome you, ask Him to accept you and change you so you can live an abundant life. So your garden is full of color, growth, and joy.
Between planting and harvest is a watering period, a waiting period, a cultivating period. Don't get discouraged. Growing a beautiful garden of purpose doesn't happen overnight. Accept each step because the in-between is essential.
Re-writing your story is not easy. Luke 6:45 NIV says, "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart full of." In other words, what you see manifesting in your life is based on the seeds you've planted or what you've allowed to take root.
Don't be afraid to ask God to prune what is not bearing fruit. It is easy to hang on to dead things, situations, outcomes, relationships, goals because we'd rather have our garden look full vs. fruitful. Dead things are harmful and can affect the growth of other things. Let it go of that mentality so something better can grow in its place.
Know that God is the same God. He is the same God who healed the woman with the issue of blood, He is the same God who called Lazaurs forth when they thought the story was over (John 11:41-44), He is the same God who saw Nathanael under the fig tree and called him (John 1:48). He is the same God who knows who you are now, who you've been, and who you can be. Trust Him with your plans. He's still doing miracles and answering prayers.
This is your garden, your harvest, your life. Make it vast, make it beautiful, make it full because you can. Because God said, you could. Because he promised us life and life more abundantly.
Building the life is you want is not easy, but it is possible. Don't let a person, doubt, or circumstances tell you otherwise.
If you want a life with a purpose, you've got to work for this. Are you ready?
